Galley Helper

Galley helpers work aboard at-sea processing vessels in the Bering Sea, Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Alaska and Aleutian Islands. They provide daily support to Chief Steward and Cooks in food preparation, cleaning, inventory and other galley tasks as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for cleaning dining room and galley after each meal
Restock beverage machines, condiments, and make coffee , as necessary
Clean and mop hallways and other common areas
Cleans and sanitizes galley tables after each meal and snack break
Perform wake up calls for all crew several times a day
Chops vegetables, prepares dressings and salads as directed
Washes dishes, pots and pans
Assists in setting out food for meals
Physical Ability and Skills:
Work 12 hours per day, 7 days a week in all kinds of weather conditions
Understand instructions and safety rules in English
Board and exit vessel without assistance by climbing up and down a gangway or Jacob's ladder
Capable of climbing and descending steep stairs and vertical ladders
Be away from medical attention for up to 3 months
Share spaces with others including crew quarters, dining areas and bathrooms
Food Workers permit required

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
